 A content management system (CMS) is simply a system used to manage the content of a web site. While many traditional web sites are developed in html or may be pages that leverage some features of a database, content a CMS is usually database-driven. The system manages the web content, electronic files, image media and audio files. The content on the front page of the site can be rearranged with just a few clicks in the administrative interface. There are several features that can be added to the CMS for event calendars, video players, slide shows, and community building programs for registered users. With user registration, the business can also develop mailing lists to send newsletters and updates to their users directly from the CMS and the users will be able to manage their subscriptions through their accounts.
